The Michigan Auto Theft Organization is called Help Eliminate Auto Thefts (HEAT). It is Michigan’s auto theft prevention and citizens’ reward program. By coordinating citizen action with law enforcement agencies, H.E.A.T encourages citizens to report auto thefts and suspicious activity.
Citizens can report through a confidential 800 number or online. Tipsters are encouraged to report stolen vehicles, chop shops, and suspected Michigan auto theft activities including insurance fraud, identity theft and carjackings. Tipsters are rewarded if the tips result in a conviction and the law enforcement agencies determine that the tip was helpful.
